About Us
The Virgin Islands Fire and Emergency Medical Services (VIFEMS) is dedicated to safeguarding lives, property, and the environment across St. Thomas, St. John, and St. Croix. Through a unified approach to fire suppression, emergency medical response, rescue operations, and community education, VIFEMS delivers professional, compassionate, and reliable service 24 hours a day. VIFEMS’ Special Operations
VIFEMS’ Special Operations provide expert response to high-risk incidents. This includes the HAZMAT Team, handling hazardous materials safely, and Marine 1, our fireboat protecting lives and property on the water—from stranded vessels to maritime fires. Positioned under the Prevention Unit, these specialized teams reflect VIFEMS’ dedication to keeping the Virgin Islands safe and prepared. Through their Search and Rescue efforts, VIFEMS ensures rapid, skilled assistance in even the most challenging situations, reinforcing safety across the territory.

Mission Statement
The mission of the Virgin Islands Fire Emergency Medical Service (VIFEMS) is to save lives, protect property and the environment, while enhancing the quality of life through public education, fire prevention, code enforcement, and response to fires, medical emergencies, hazardous materials incidents and all other man made or natural disasters.
Vision Statement
While providing efficient service and response for our community, VIFEMS will carry out all duties with due diligence and professionalism. We will take pride in all undertakings, sworn to protect life, property and our community. We will be good stewards and citizens representing the time-honored profession of firefighters and EMS providers.
