DIRECTOR OF FIRE & EMS

At the Helm of VIFEMS: Director Antonio Stevens’ Commitment to Service

Antonio Stevens, the Director of the Virgin Islands Fire and Emergency Medical Services (VIFEMS), brings over two decades of dedicated service to the people of the Virgin Islands — first through the U.S. military, and now in emergency response.

Before joining the Virgin Islands Fire and Emergency Medical Services in 2006, Director Stevens served 22 years in the United States military, rising to the rank of Senior Non-Commissioned Officer (E-8). His time in uniform sharpened his skills in leadership, discipline, and critical decision-making — values that continue to guide his public service today.

Since transitioning from military to civilian service, Director Stevens has held multiple leadership positions within the VIFEMS, gradually taking on greater responsibility. His experience includes overseeing operations, training, inspections, and public outreach. In June 2024, he was officially appointed as the 7th Director of the Virgin Islands Fire and Emergency Medical Services.

Director Stevens is also committed to continuous learning and professional development. He holds an Associate of Science in Criminal Justice and a Bachelor of Science in Homeland Security and Emergency Management, graduating Magna Cum Laude from Colorado Technical University. He has completed advanced training in Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) Response, Weapons of Mass Destruction, Radiological/Nuclear Awareness, and Urban Search and Rescue — among others — making him well-prepared to respond to complex emergencies across the Territory.

What truly sets Director Stevens apart is his unwavering dedication to the community. He leads with humility, integrity, and a passion for public service, ensuring that VIFEMS continues to grow stronger, smarter, and more responsive to the needs of Virgin Islanders.
